The dancefloor is often described as a place of escape, but escape is rarely as simple as leaving something behind. With Reduce Me to Nothingness, Stockholm-based producer dog on acid approaches that familiar idea from a more complicated angle. His first release for трип is a six-track EP rooted in dub-soaked minimal techno, with a tracklist that reads like a series of private admissions: “i hate who i am, but i can learn to live with it”, “i just want to feel something” and “it's all my fault”. Together, they suggest a record concerned less with forgetting one's troubles than with finding a way to exist alongside them.

There is an immediate tension between the emotional directness of these titles and the abstract possibilities of minimal techno. Where lyrics might explain a feeling, repetition can leave it open, allowing the listener to inhabit a mood without being told exactly what it means. The genre's capacity for gradual development also lends itself to experiences that resist straightforward resolution. Frustration, doubt and emotional numbness rarely disappear in a single decisive moment; they tend to linger, return and change shape. A repetitive groove can reflect that persistence while offering a different relationship to it.

The dub influence associated with Reduce Me to Nothingness gives the project an additional sense of depth and immersion. Its stated aesthetic points towards a form of club music in which atmosphere is central, creating room for a more introspective experience without abandoning the physical purpose of the dancefloor. This is where the EP's concept becomes particularly interesting: personal turmoil and collective movement are not presented as opposing forces, but as experiences that can occupy the same space.

The titles also resist a conventional emotional progression. “lain is lain” remains deliberately opaque, while “this could be it” might suggest a breakthrough, a moment of hesitation or simply the fragile possibility of change. Even the title Reduce Me to Nothingness carries an unresolved tension. To become nothing might mean to disappear, but it might also mean to temporarily relinquish the demands of identity, responsibility and self-consciousness that weigh so heavily outside the club.

None of this requires the record to deliver a final answer. Its premise rests on the possibility that music can provide relief without pretending to offer a cure. The club becomes a temporary environment in which difficult feelings can be displaced from the centre of attention, transformed by movement or simply allowed to exist without further analysis.

With Reduce Me to Nothingness, dog on acid makes a debut on трип that connects a deeply personal outlook with the open-ended language of minimal techno. The result, at least in concept, is a reminder that sometimes the point of dancing is not to become someone else. It is to stop thinking about who you are for long enough to feel something again.
