Take Medellin’s DJ Producer extraordinaire Emmanuel Callejas, stir in Venezuela’s Latin house supremo NOTHANKYOU, add Miami’s Tech house prodigy IT’S KING JULIAN and mix the three together to produce the most infectious tribal rhythm of the year. Now add the incredible vocals of Brazilian funk legend MC GW. The jaw-dropping result is Bawineo, released on 24th October via SUNDAY & One Seven Music. As soon as you hear the first beat of Bawineo, you know that this is a track destined to be big. MC GW’s distinctive voice calls you to arms.
Dancefloors across the world stand still, collectively thinking ‘Wow! What is this?’. Then comes that hand timbal rhythm and the chocalho beat. The whole dancefloor goes wild. Time after time, wherever in the world Bawineo is dropped, the whole crowd turn into bawinos (Colombian slang for someone extremely intoxicated). But with Bawineo, it’s the music that has intoxicated them, flowing through their veins, forcing them to dance as the electrifying beat takes hold of every muscle.
With support from industry heavyweights Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati, GORDO, Cloonee, Mason Collective, and more, this release is already making serious waves.
But let’s take a step back: The trio of producers combined their musical forces and expertise in their own genres to produce the instrumental. They realized that with the hypnotic percussion, rolling basslines, and after-hours energy, they had created something very special. But it needed the right voice to bring it to life.
So, they reached out to MC GW, whose explosive delivery injected the raw baile funk fire the track demanded. With over 21 million monthly Spotify listeners and more than 3,700 vocal features in 2024, his viral Brazilian funk tracks, MC GW is the driving force that is pushing Brazilian funk into a global phenomenon.
NOTHANKYOU: “This track brings together two worlds we love: Brazilianfunk and tech house, creating something fresh and made for the dancefloor.”
Emmanuel Callejas: “Bawineo is about energy and movement. We wanted a sound that feels global but still raw and underground.”
IT’S KING JULIAN: “For me, it’s the perfect balance of groove and punch. You can play it in a club or drop it online it just works.”
MC GW: “Bawineo is straight from Brazil to the world, and its gonna make the the girls go crazy”
Are you ready to go baweno when you hear Baweneo dropped on the dancefloor this autumn? When it happens, you’ll remember it for the rest of your life.
