There are records that entertain, and there are records that document a state of being. ARVØW’s Remnants is undoubtedly the latter—a sonic freeze-frame of a young artist grappling with loss, change, and the quiet moments of resilience found in extreme solitude. Composed during a period of self-imposed isolation in the Arctic edges of Norway and Sweden, this six-track EP hums with stillness, shivers with memory, and ultimately, glows with resolve.

From the first tones of "At First Sight", there’s a sense of arrival—not to a place, but to a state of introspection. The track unfolds like a breath held in sub-zero air, with ambient waves gently brushing against a backdrop of absolute stillness. "Aurora" follows, weaving melodic fragments like light ribbons in a dark sky. It’s tender, hopeful, yet impossibly far away.

But not all is calm in ARVØW’s sonic world. "Days Pass" and "18 Hours" crack the stillness with kinetic energy and rhythmic unease. There’s a tension here, as if something is about to break—a fitting metaphor for internal transformation. "Days Pass" pulses forward with urgency, while "18 Hours" loops in on itself, creating a hypnotic, claustrophobic effect that echoes the emotional vertigo of being cut off from the world for too long.

What makes Remnants so compelling is its honesty. These tracks don’t aim to impress—they aim to communicate. Feelings of emptiness, of letting go, of holding onto light. In ARVØW’s own words, it’s about trying to stay hopeful and happy despite confronting change and loss.

The remixes serve not as footnotes but as echoes—Cotton Mouth softens the light further, letting the silence speak, while Evigt Mörker’s contribution feels like walking through a snowstorm in a dream: disorienting, beautiful, and strange.

Remnants is ARVØW’s emotional map etched into sound—a testament to the idea that from the coldest places, the most profound warmth can emerge. Released on Be Your Own Studio, and paired with visually arresting artwork by Estudio Cadelca, this is a body of work that demands to be felt as much as heard.
